The Audi Cup ~ R. H. Dana Charity Regatta held off Dana Point on September 8 & 9, 2012. For more info: http://dpyc.org/rhd/rhd.htm

I covered the race action on Sunday from the mark set boat. This is the boat that sets the flags or "marks" for the race course. We set the start flag, shot the race start, and photographed the boats before they got too far out of sight.

While the boats were out on the course, we headed back to catch the children's sabot races in the harbor. I call sabots floating bathtubs, they are a great way to learn to sail. For info about sabot racing:

After watching the kids race, we motored out to set the finish flag. This year I got to record the finish times for one of the race classes.

Would have been nice to have more wind, the trade off was the beautiful sky, which is always such a treat for a photographer. :-)

When back at the yacht club we were entertained by people experiencing the FlyBoard. Check it out: http://www.flyboard.com. You too can have one for just $9,999.00!
